It’s the spookiest day of the year! Halloween is the perfect time to face our fears and do something that scares us. Many people are afraid of things like heights or spiders, but sometimes we also have some “fashion fears”. I mean let’s face it, sometimes fashion can be scary! There are so many reasons people shy away from the clothes they feel would be really fun to wear. It could be that they are afraid to be too dressed up, that they won’t be able to “pull off” the outfit, or maybe that people will get the wrong idea and think they are overly conceited or fake.
Dwelling on these thoughts only serve to make you feel bad. Instead of coming home from somewhere and looking sadly at the outfit you love but was too afraid to wear, you can come home feeling fashionable and proud of yourself. When I face my fashion fears, I truly get the same adrenaline rush that I enjoy from a horror movie or haunted house.
Overall, Halloween is a great holiday for fashion inspiration. It’s the one time of year that everyone dresses up as crazy as they want and no one thinks twice about it. But, I want to encourage everyone to break that thought process. Don’t let Halloween be the last time this year that you experiment with fashion. The jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, and orange lights may be going into our storage for a while, but the costumes don’t have to. This year, I want to challenge you to wear a “costume” whenever you feel like it. Be your true self, have fun with fashion, and feel confident in doing so. And save the fear for next Halloween season!
